Next, prepare a frame so as to fit the bathtub leaving a gap of 1/8 inches around the edge. Install the plumbing supply lines for the faucets, risers and the shower head. After that place the tub on to the frame and check the level.

It is always better to mark the place of the tub, frame and the ledger boards before fixing them so that you can make the changes if one doesn't suit you. Ledger board are basically the support or the foundation that holds up the tub.

In addition to installing the drain pipes, a P- trap is also employed in the bathtub drainage system. These are employed beneath the floors and are also connected to the drain pipes of the bathtub.

Now, when all the pipes and fittings are installed and all the markings are done, it is the time to place the frame, ledger boards and lastly the tub. Use galvanized nails and flanges for that as galvanized nails and screws eliminate the risk of rusting.

Last step involves, inspecting your installation. Check the drainage pipes and faucets for leaks. If the drainage system is satisfactory, install the shower head, faucet handles and the tub spout. Although, the bathtub installation is very complicated but, can rightly accomplished if one possess adequate plumbing skills.
