Acting is similar to any other profession in that it's easy to do but difficult to master. We've all acted at some point in our lives and some of us have gone on to make it our career choice. Like any career, you're more likely to get hired for acting jobs if you have skill and experience. This is good news for people who are already actors, but what if you're not an actor and want to give it a shot? If you've thought about taking on Acting Jobs, there are some things to do that will ensure you succeed.

Right off the top, you must know how to act. It's rare anyone can act without some form of teaching as it requires a lot of focus and concentration. You'll need more than bare bones if you want to go anywhere. If you've never acted before, you're going to want to attend an acting class. These classes will teach you the basics of body movement and voice control, as well as how to use your entire body more effectively. If you want more hands-on experience, try community theatre. Stage acting is a good way to build and hone your abilities. Though it is different that film acting, it is valuable experience that will go a long way. Continue with the community theater productions and your acting classes to develop your craft and your skill.
Now that you've got some experience, it's time to invest in headshots. These are very specific photographs that show your physical features to potential casting directors. It gives them a way to match a face or a body type to a role. These must be simple and clean. Don't let a photographer experiment with you or with strange colors and angles. Some actors get their headshots before anything else in order to jumpstart their careers. While not entirely necessary, don't discount this practice. You're going to need headshots, so get them early.
Once you have your headshots in hand, it's time to begin auditions. You are not going to land major roles in major motion pictures with your first audition, so you're going to need to start small and work your way up. Student films and independent productions are great places to begin. Typically, you can find these on a site like TalentPostings.com or in your local newspaper. While it's rare you'll receive pay for these performances, you'll usually always receive a copy of your performance for your acting reel. This is a visual representation of how well you can act and they can go a very long way. They're important tools, so use these beginning performances to flesh out your reel and give directors more material to work with. Your reel and your resume are practically one in the same, so once you have a reel, make sure you're giving it out freely to every casting director.
Once you have a few productions under your belt and some footage for your reel, you need to start looking for representation. An agent will be able to get you more exposure and more work. Securing an agent is the ultimate goal for aspiring actors. They have the ability to get you work on major projects. If you're good enough, they can get you work on major motion pictures. Many people are now using TalentPostings.com, which specifically markets you directly to employers and talent agents. Once you're comfortable with yourself and your reel, get an agent and take your career to the next level.
The most important thing is to never give up and follow your dream. In today's age of the internet, it is a little easier for people to get discovered simply by using sites like Youtube and TalentPostings. Today you can find acting jobs and casting calls online instead of using the old methods as only a decade ago. The most important part is to never lose focus and don't give up. There are many people out there who are trying to be actors. You just have to show the world what you are made of and you will be generously rewarded.
