A budget level laptop may only have 80GB storage space, this will get full in no time. If you have a lot of music and video then go for a laptop that has 320 or 500 GB storage.
There are other considerations when searching for a new laptop. For example some models will have a built in DVD player and recorder whereas an ultra-thin option may not. Of course price is often one of the main factors. With laptops you get what you pay for, $300 will not bring you a good machine but $1000 will.
